'Florida Cooler Boy' gets help so he can keep people cool

ORLANDO, Fla. — A 10-year-old boy from Central Florida is back on his feet, using his warm heart to keep people cool. You could say some cold-hearted people almost kept him from his mission.

Greshaun Daberezil is, by all accounts, a kid who has accomplished a lot early in his life. He's a decorated gymnast whose abilities and talent have been seen by many. He's up to nothing but good.

"The smartest one I know, very smart, yeah," said Greta Duperat, Daberezil's mother.

Daberezil came up with a pretty smart idea that is no mirage — free water hauled from the family freezer to the front of his house.

"I just put it like this," Daberezil said, as he placed one cooler outside his home. "I want the coolers to be blue so that it can catch the person's eye."

Spectrum News reported on Daberezil in July when his original cooler, with bottles of cold water inside, was stolen from his parents' front yard. The community stepped up and donated seven new coolers, allowing him to continue his efforts and still be an Everyday Hero.

He became motivated to expand the effort after sitting at a red light in his father's car and noticed people on street corners.

"It's the summer, and it's hot," Daberezil said. "Everybody's gonna need, like, water."

That's why he leaves coolers at bus stops around Orlando and is hoping it catches on with the Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority, the Lynx buses.

"I want to partner with them to, like, so they could put the water in their buses, so they can be anywhere," Daberezil said.
