Sep 01, 2023Is drinking bottled water dangerous? Scientists make an alarming finding - AS USA

While drinking water from plastic bottles isn’t acutely dangerous, more and more microplastics are being ingested by humans.
A recent study by Communications Biology found that as more plastic waste is being released into the environment, microplastics in drinking water and food are being ingested by humans. This in turn could cause damage to internal organs, specifically the kidneys.
The study has found that drinking bottled water is the main source of microplastic ingestion and given that these are not found in nature and are manufactured by humans, they cannot be broken down by organisms.
🌍🧠 A shocking study finds #microplastics in our #brains! Here are 5 ways to reduce exposure:1️⃣ Switch to filtered tap water 🚰2️⃣ Choose paper or loose-leaf tea 🍵3️⃣ Boil & filter your water 🔥4️⃣ Use wood/metal cutting boards 🍽️5️⃣ Avoid microwaving plastic containers ❌ pic.twitter.com/zEk4dKC5IE
There are a number of ways we can combat the level of microplastics in the environment with key to tackling the problem being with a proper use of recycling plastics critical to keeping them out of the environment, where they can be broken down into microplastics that we can subsequently ingest.
Invest in a reusable water bottle rather than purchasing single-use plastic water bottles is a simple and cost effective way to reduce your use of plastics that break down into microplastics. Reusing shopping bags rather than using plastic grocery bags is another practical way to cut back on plastic use.
